In men’s play, JC Aguilar blasted in a kill while JM Tropia delivered an ace as Adamson U quashed San Sebastian rally in the third to fashion out a 25-21, 25-18, 25-21 victory in the classification round of their side of the competitions in the 2022 V-League Collegiate Challenge.
Francis Casas’ hitting error enabled the Golden Stags to pull within at 21-23 but Aguilar and Tropia anchored that big finish to frustrate the Recoletos-based school.
Tropia ended up with 12 points on 10 attacks and two blocks while Aguilar added 11 markers on eight spikes, two blocks and an ace.
Middle blocker Joshua Magalaman also needed to step up on floor defense as their liberos sustained injuries.
"Happy naman ako kasi nag-connect sila ng setters. Kasi yung nga setters ko, mga three months pa lang silang nagte-train with them. Happy ako na yung three months na yun, meron ng potential na connection," said Adamson head coach George Pascua on Magalaman and his other spikers' performance.
San Sebastian drew six points from Renmart Alba as opposite hitter Joshua Espenida sat out the game to recover from injury.
