For the longest time, the V-League has served as a training ground for up-and-coming volleyball talents in the Philippines.
And with the Collegiate Challenge back in full swing for its 14th season, V-League alumna and Creamline star Alyssa Valdez hopes that the league can continue to unearth volleyball gems and help them reach their full potential.
“V-League has been there supporting grassroots so we’re just happy na nagtutuloy tuloy talaga yung program and I hope marami pang mag-shine na bagong volleyball players doon,” said Valdez right after the Cool Smashers dealt Chery Tiggo its first loss last Saturday.
Valdez, who won four Most Valuable Player awards and four championships during her time in the V-League, made sure to keep tabs on the league’s games and could not help but be in awe of the talent and potential that the players have shown.
“These girls are so amazing. Whenever I see them, they’re very athletic, very powerful, so we can’t just wait to see them in the upcoming UAAP and NCAA and the other tournaments.”
The women’s side are already in the semifinals while the men’s tournament is still in the final phase of the eliminations.
