Ateneo de Davao defeated Jose Maria College, 25-17, 25-21, 25-19, in the Final Four late Friday, marking their second win over the Lady Royals in three days. “I take this win as another lesson for me and my team. From our coaches, from start to finish, we should always maintain consistency, discipline, and respeto sa dula [respect for the game], and carry that in everything we do,” said Taguiran.
Rika Sasaki will lead UM in the Final. The Lady Wildcats finished third in the preliminaries but stunned No. 2 Holy Cross of Davao College in the semifinals, 25-19, 25-20, 26-24.
In the men’s Final, unbeaten HCDC faces the Philippine Women’s College of Davao at 6:00 p.m. The Cross Blazers will be spearheaded by Geduer Egpan, who set a V-League Mindanao scoring record with 38 points in their 17-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-16, 15-11 preliminaries victory over the Patriots.
