Far Eastern University secured its place in the semifinals of the 2023 V-League Collegiate Challenge in style after a three-set victory over San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 25-12, 25-18, 25-12, this Sunday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
The Lady Tamaraws' fifth consecutive win can be attributed to their strong commitment to defense, with libero Max Jungco taking care of the floor, contributing with 17 digs and eight excellent receptions.
"Team effort pa rin ito. Ang dahilan kung bakit nakakadepensa nang maayos si Max ay dahil maganda rin ang blocking namin," said interim head coach Manolo Refugia regarding the win.
With upcoming matches against fellow top teams University of the East and College of Saint Benilde, FEU must maintain their hunger. "Magiging magandang laban ang mga susunod naming dalawang laro kaya kailangan pa naming maghanda nang mas maayos," Refugia added.
Three Lady Tamaraws ended the game with double-digit scores, with Keisha Bedonia leading the way with 13 points, 10 of which came from successful attacks. Mitzi Panangin and Chenie Tagaod contributed 10 markers each.
Amacka Tan attempted to keep the Lady Stags in the match with eight points, while Tin Marasigan chipped in seven.
