FEU salvages women's 5th place

Far Eastern U squandered a two-set lead but regrouped in the decider as it repelled University of Sto. Tomas, 25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 21-25, 15-10, and nabbed fifth place in the 2022 V-League Women's Collegiate Challenge on Friday.

Alyzza Devosora came away with 18 points on 16 attacks and two aces while Chen Tagaod added 16 points on 12 attacks, two aces and two blocks on top of 11 excellent digs for the Lady Tamaraws, who also drew 12 markers from Miltzi Panangin and a couple of 10 points from Karyme Truz and Julianne Monares that underscored the team's balanced scoring.

“The past week nag-focus kami talaga sa mental aside sa skills. Ineemphasize ko kasi sa kanila na kaya naming sumabay pero napapangunahan kami ng doubts, fears, tapos nagooverthink kaya sinettle namin yun kaya ayun, lumabas ngayon,” said FEU head coach Tina Salak.

Jona Perdido put in a 15-point showing while Sopia Abbu and Pierre Abellana chipped in 12 points apiece for UST, which ended up sixth in the pre-season tournament.
