Pascua relishes return to men's volleyball

George Pascua is finally back in the men’s game after six years.

On Sunday, the decorated head coach made his debut for Adamson University, guiding the school to a four-set, 25-21, 28-26, 23-25, 25-16 win over College of St. Benilde in the 2022 V-League Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena.

The PLDT head coach said that he had little to no adjustments in his return to the men’s side where he last coached back in 2016.

“Sa men’s team? Ganon pa rin naman,” said Pascua.

Pascua said that the only thing that changed was his approach. Other than that, it’s business as usual for the former Far Eastern University tactician.

“Ang pinagkaiba lang yung ano siguro, is yung approach sa training. Yung approach kasi, yung mga girls kailangan medyo may konting lambing, yung mga boys kailangan ng konting pasindak. Magkaiba ng approach talaga,” he said.

“Pero training-wise, pare-pareho lang, and system-wise, pare-pareho rin.”

Pascua said that he plans to use the V-League as the Soaring Falcons’ buildup for the upcoming UAAP season. He also expressed his gratitude to the tournament organizers for giving them an avenue to prepare for Season 85.

“Basta sa akin basta one step forward kami. Yun lang naman e, one at a time. It’s a process,” Pascua said.

“Ako, personally naappreciate ko yung effort ng tournament na ‘to, ng V-League kasi wala kaming preseason like before meron kaming Unigames, may mga other tournaments. Ito UAAP teams pa so malaking bagay sa amin for preparation sa UAAP.”
