UST seeks to build run vs unbeaten Perps

UST and National U each face separate opponents on Friday, following a showdown that resulted in an unexpected outcome, potentially foreshadowing an intense battle for the championship in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge.

However, following their victory over the reigning UAAP champions, the Golden Spikers now confront another formidable opponent—the NCAA titleholders, Perpetual Help Altas. The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Paco Arena in Manila.

After recovering from an initial defeat against the La Salle Green Spikers, the team based in España made an astonishing comeback with a 25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 28-26 triumph over the reigning champion Bulldogs last Wednesday. Yet, they brace themselves for yet another demanding test against the Las Piñas-based squad, which has clinched victory in its first two games.

UST's head coach, Odjie Mamon, is actively seeking further improvement. He stated, "Discipline. Hanggang sa matapos itong V-League, puro 'yun lang eemphasize ko buong tournament," said Mamon. "Ito yung point of emphasis namin dahil ang dami naming errors last year sa tournament na ito at sa UAAP. Kailangan namin ma-polish ang skills namin."

On the flip side, the Bulldogs are poised to channel their frustration towards the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, who currently hold a 0-2 record in this Sports Vision-organized tournament, supported by Bola.TV, Beyond Active Wear, Asics, and Mikasa. This clash is scheduled for 4 p.m.

In the women's division, Far Eastern University and University of the East aim to extend their winning streaks to three. FEU faces Enderun College (1-1) in the opening match of a quadruple bill at 10 a.m., while UE takes on San Sebastian (0-2) at 12 noon.

All games will be broadcasted on Solar Sports, the official website of the V-League, and Bola.TV's app.
