Ateneo, UST duel for lead

Unbeaten Ateneo and a fired-up UST side collide in a crucial match for the solo lead, even as National U and Perpetual Help face off in a crucial encounter in the V-League Men’s Collegiate Challenge on Sunday at the Paco Arena in Manila.

The Blue Eagles trounced the Altas in four sets last Wednesday, securing their fourth straight win. However, they will be hard-pressed to extend their streak as they go up against the Golden Spikers in the 4 p.m. main event of another four-game bill in the league organized by Sports Vision.

UST, with a 4-1 record, is also riding a three-game winning streak, with the Golden Spikers eager and ready to hand the Blue Eagles their first setback in a bid to seize the lead and strengthen their semifinal aspirations in the league supported by Bola.TV, Beyond Active Wear, Asics, and Mikasa.

The 2 p.m. showdown between UAAP champion National U and NCAA ruler Perpetual Help is also expected to be fierce, with the Bulldogs looking to capitalize on the momentum from their hard-fought five-set victory over the La Salle Green Spikers last Wednesday, which improved their record to 3-1.

In contrast, the Altas are struggling with a three-game losing streak after winning their first two matches. Their resilience will also be tested in a match they must overcome to stay in contention for the semifinals.

In women's play, the University of the East aims to maintain its spotless record heading into its highly anticipated clash with co-leader Far Eastern U on Wednesday. They will first face College of Saint Benilde at 10 a.m. The Lady Blazers suffered their first loss to the Lady Tamaraws last Friday after three consecutive wins, while the latter extended their winning streak to six games.

The Lady Altas, on the other hand, seek to complete the semifinals lineup against the 1-3 Mapua side at 12 noon.

All games are broadcast on Solar Sports, the V-League's official website, and Bola.TV's app.
