College of St. Benilde blanked University of the Philippines, 25-13, 25-21, 25-10, to bag the top seed in Pool B of the 2022 V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge, Friday at the Paco Arena.
Jade Gentapa scored 11 points to go along with six excellent digs while Michelle Gamit had 11 points as well which included four of the Lady Blazers’ 10 kill blocks in the game which only lasted for an hour and 12 minutes.
Gayle Pascual added 10 points while team captain Mycah Go had nine points, nine excellent receptions, and eight excellent digs as Benilde finished the group stage with a perfect 3-0 card.
“Happy naman na nasa top kami. Ayun, masaya naman kami na every game nananalo kami. Yun naman yung goal namin kada naglalaro kami which is manalo,” said assistant coach Jay Chua.
Stephanie Bustrillo led the way for the 2-1 Fighting Maroons with eight points while team skipper Jewel Encarnacion had seven points laced with eight excellent digs and five excellent receptions.
UP, after starting the tournament with two consecutive wins against San Beda University and University of Sto. Tomas, respectively, suffered its first loss and settled for the second seed in the same group.
