Ellarina shines as FEU thwarts Perps in 4, goes 2-0

Far Eastern University showcased its defensive prowess to thwart the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA in four sets, 28-26, 17-25, 25-17, 25-13, securing its second consecutive victory in the 2023 V-League Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday at the Paco Arena in Manila.

Despite committing 39 errors over the course of the contest, the Lady Tamaraws managed to leverage their net skills, accumulating an impressive 19 blocks in the nearly two-hour match.

Jazlyn Ellarina, formerly from National University, ignited FEU's offense from the right side, contributing nine points, two of which were from blocks.

"Na-test yung team chemistry namin kasi nag-ikot kami ng mga tao. Ang maganda, may nabuo kami sa game at naging ready yung mga players, kaya naging maganda laro namin," interim head coach Manolo Refugia summed up the win in this tournament organized by Sports Vision and supported by Bola.TV, Beyond Active Wear, Asics and Mikasa.

Chenie Tagaod dominated the left side with an impressive 16 points, comprising 12 attacks and a game-high four blocks, while Mitzi Panangin added 12 points, four of which also came from successful net kills.

Mary Rose Dapol led the charge for the Lady Altas with 12 markers, and Tracy Andal played a vital role with 18 digs to keep her team in the game.
