FEU crushes Letran, gains share of 2nd


Far Eastern University asserted its dominance with a commanding sweep over Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-16, 25-22, 25-15, as the Lady Tamaraws seized a share of second place in the V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge on Sunday at Paco Arena, Manila.

Faida Bakanke spearheaded the Lady Tamaraws' charge, leading the team to victory in Tina Salak’s second game back as head coach.


With the win, FEU now shares the second spot in the seven-team league, organized by Sports Vision, alongside the UP Fighting Maroons at 3-2 (win-loss).


Riding the momentum from their previous sets, FEU dismantled Letran with a decisive nine-point lead (19-10) in the final set to claim their third win of the season.


The Lady Tams established control early, building a five-point lead that set the tone for their two-set advantage. FEU’s dominance was particularly evident in the attacking department, where the Lady Tams outhit their rivals, 15-8, to clinch the opening set.


Bakanke delivered a stellar performance, scoring a game-high 18 points, including 17 attacks, to improve FEU’s record.


The Lady Tamaraws will tangle with the University of the East Lady Warriors on Sept. 8, at 12 noon, as they look to close out the eliminations on a winning note.


Verenicce Colendra stood out for the Lady Knights with 12 points. Letran, which dropped to 1-2, will also battle UE Sept. 1 at 5 p.m.
