Perpetual bags bronze, downs Ateneo

University of Perpetual Help System DALTA secured a bronze finish in the 2022 V-League Men's Collegiate Challenge after taking down Ateneo de Manila University, 25-21, 25-21, 25-20, Sunday at the Paco Arena.

Louie Ramirez was the leader of the Altas with 22 points on 22 attacks and two kill blocks to add to his growing number of medals after a silver finish in the 2022 Spikers' Turf and a gold in the PNVF Champions' League two weeks ago, both with Cignal.

"Third place hindi siya masama. Gusto namin na ma-maintain talaga yung bilang NCAA champion. It's a good start for us," said decorated Perpetual head coach Sammy Acaylar.

"Nagpapasalamat ako sa Sports Vision kasi nakita ko at nabasa ko kung hanggang saan kami. Kung may kulang, we have to practice more. Kung may sobra naman, syempre pag-igihin pa namin kasi nasa third place lang kami ngayon eh. Gusto namin umakyat pa," he added.

The Blue Eagles tied the third set at 17-all but that would be the closest they could get as the Altas went to multiple weapons in Klint Mateo, Kirth Rosos, KC Andrade, and Ramirez to finish the match.

Andrade added 13 points for Perpetual while Hero Austria registered a triple-double of 10 points, 12 digs, and 10 excellent receptions.

The duo of Abai Llenos and Kennedy Batas paced Ateneo with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
