University of Perpetual Help System DALTA exhibited its finishing prowess to secure its second consecutive win in the 2023 V-League Collegiate Challenge, sweeping San Beda University with scores of 25-14, 25-17, 25-22, on Friday at the Paco Arena in Manila.
With a mere one-point lead at 16-15 in the final set, Perpetual orchestrated a 4-0 surge, ignited by successive kills from Jeff Marapoc and Kobe Tabuga, effectively placing the set and the match beyond San Beda's grasp.
"I'm happy we got the win because we prepared for this. Happy ako na kahit wala kaming Louie Ramirez, we're playing as solid team," head coach Sammy Acaylar said of the win in this tournament organized by Sports Vision and backed by Bola.TV, Beyond Active Wear, ASICS and Mikasa.
Once again, JC Enarciso led the Altas with 12 excellent sets and contributed five points, including two aces. Marapoc concluded with 13 points, all stemming from kills, while Tabuga added nine points, comprised of seven spikes and two aces.
On the San Beda side, Kevin Montemayor took the lead with nine points, all earned through kills, and both Justine Santos and Mohammad Tahilluddin added six markers each.
Regrettably, the Red Spikers suffered the loss of Axel Book due to injury following an awkward landing during the second set.
