Great sports teams and athletes never rest on their laurels in pursuit of continuous excellence.
Such is the case of the National University men's volleyball team, which, just earlier this month, won the 2022 Spikers' Turf Open Conference title. And now, trying to bag yet another title. This time in the return of the 2022 V-League Collegiate Challenge.
After winning that Spikers' Turf chip, the Bulldogs got back to work, as a setter and captain Joshua Retamar shared.
"Yung pinaghandaan namin ngayong tournament is, more on collegiate teams yung nandito, so iba 'don sa Spikers' Turf na Open Conference kasi yung iba do'n mga pro na. So dito alam namin na pag nagpabaya kami, may chance na matalo kami, kasi competitive lahat ng mga teams na nandito," that conference's Best Setter said.
"Pinaghandaan namin dito is more on teamwork and syempre yung skills pa rin namin sa serve."
And for a team who chose nothing but the best the goal is no less than winning it all again as Retamar puts it, "Ang goal namin this tournament, siyempre mag-champion pa rin."
However, for the concurrent national team setter and the rest of the Bulldogs, it is more than just winning the trophy, as they aim for something bigger.
"Gusto namin ipakita sa lahat ng collegiate teams na 'pag nag-champion kami, maganda yung programa namin sa voleyball, sa men's. So, matutulungan rin namin silang mag-improve," the 22-year-old native of Laguna.
