Univ. of the Philippines overpowered San Beda in the other Pool B match, coming away with a 25-18, 25-19, 25-17 romp to cap the day's busy schedule in the 2022 V-League Women's Collegiate Challenge on Wednesday.
Steph Bustrillo unloaded 11 points while Nina Ytang and Jewel Encarnacion combined for 13 points as the Lady Maroons dominated their Mendiola-based rivals with superb service receive, floor defense and blocking that helped anchor their offensive thrusts.
San Beda actually kept it close in third but UP uncorked a 9-3 run to break free at 17-8. The Lady Maroons pulled away at 21-12 on Aryanna Binondo's illegal attack but the Lady Red Spikers pounced on the former’s miscues and threatened at 16-21.
But Abi Goc starred in a decisive 3-0 spurt and UP cruised to the straight-set win on a trade of service miscues between Goc and Jaschryl Casugod.
Angel Habacon paced San Beda with nine points with six excellent digs while Katleya Molina added seven hits.
